New Delhi: The country’s premier car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India has taken a remarkable step. The company said on Wednesday that it has decided to close its factories between May 1-9 ahead of schedule, amid growing cases of Kovid-19 infection in the country.
Plants closed for repair prematurely
The auto giant was supposed to close two plants in Gurugram and Manesar for repair in June, but in view of the outbreak of Kovid-19, the company has decided to conserve oxygen for medical use. In such a situation, the company has already announced the closure of both the plants a month in advance.
Oxygen will be saved
Maruti Suzuki India said that in the process of car manufacturing, its factories use a small amount of oxygen, while component manufacturing uses a relatively high amount of oxygen.
Use of oxygen to save lives: Maruti
The company told the stock market, ‘In the current situation we believe that all available oxygen should be used to save lives. Therefore, Maruti Suzuki has decided to close its factories for maintenance ahead of time. During this time, production will be closed in all factories.
The company said that Suzuki Motor Gujarat has taken a similar decision for its factory.
